Well, there used to be a time when the music industry used to go through so many different processes to get their tracks to the audience. However, over the past few decades, technology has probably brought the music industry to where we it couldn’t even have imagined of. Not all changes were taken as pleasantly, though. However, eventually, the music industry realized that there was no point in trying to put up a fight against the advancing technology to not change certain things it wanted to keep running in the same old way. Anand Mishra Indian entrepreneur, seems to have done some research on the changes that have been witnessed in the music industry over the past few decades, and we will be going through a few of them now. The advanced devices Remember those devices known as walkmans? Well, when they were first released, they were probably considered to be magical devices by many. However, with the iPod, things went to a whole new level, as it became the most popular music device ever. Nowadays, however, nobody wants to leave their smartphone regardless of what they are doing or looking to do, including listening to music. Furthermore, there are now also many music apps that allow users to download and listen to a wide range of tracks, ranging from the latest ones to some of the most popular ones ever. The music and technology industry coming at loggerheads The journey of change for the music industry hasn’t been all pleasing and welcome. There have been several occasions where it just wouldn’t want the technology companies to interfere with certain things. For one, there was a huge legal battle between a music sharing network, Napster, and the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America), as the latter obviously didn’t want music to be shared by the company with its users. Then there were also some issues when the compact discs and audio cassettes hit the market first. However, over a period of time, the music industry realized it just cannot stop technology from changing everything about it, as the users loved and embraced the changes too. How the music industry has gained? Apparently, the music industry has gained in many ways due to the technological advancements. First things first, musical bands have a lot more instruments to play with than they did a few decades back. Similarly, concert tickets are sold through websites and apps, making it significantly easier and convenient to do marketing. Several mobile phone networks also offer features like free music or unlimited music, which seems to be helping both such companies and the music industry.
